This year, Modafen’s spring break destination was America. After an enjoyable flight, we arrived at the JFK airport, New York. It was still morning in America. We got on our bus and arrived at New York Midtown Hotel. After check-in, we took a walk around our hotel, which was located in Manhattan. We met at the lobby and we went to Times Square for dinner. We celebrated birthdays at dinner and we went back to our hotel as we were tired.
On the second day, we enthusiastically had breakfast and we hit the road to explore New York. Our first destination was the world-famous Statue of Liberty, which was given to America by France for their 100th anniversary celebrations. After visiting the island and taking photographs, we headed off to visit the New York Stock Exchange Building on Wall Street, where the financial world’s heart beats. After lunch, we visited the mausoleum, which was built after the bombing of the World Trade Center on 11th of September 2001. Our students were fascinated and we went to the famous Harlem region. On the way to our hotel, we stopped at the Rockefeller Center. After the tour on Fifth Avenue, we had dinner in Manhattan.
On the 3rd day, we went to the Apple store on Fifth Avenue after breakfast. After a stroll in Central Park, we visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the most important museums of the world. In the evening, some of us went to watch “Mamma Mia”, a famous Broadway show, while others had dinner on Broadway.
On the 4th day, we set off to Washington District of Columbia after breakfast. After a 3.5 hours bus ride, we arrived in Washington, the capital of America. The centres of all three branches of the Federal Government of the United States are in the District, including the Congress, President, and Supreme Court. We visited the White House, USA Congress Building, Georgetown University, the historic post office, Washington Monument, 2nd World War National Monument, Vietnam City Monument, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Monument, Lincoln Memorial Monument, Martin Luther King Monument, John Kennedy Complex, and The Pentagon. Then, we took a stop in George Town where we could see American architecture. In the afternoon, we got on the bus to go back to New York.
