The Second Languages Reading Contest, the first of which organized by Modafen, was held with great success. Students, , competed to pass each other in four different languages , and drew great attention with their pronunciation skills, fluency and self-confidence.

The competition was based on the books that the students had read in German, French, Russian and Spanish during the summer months. Three students from each language participated in the competition and the competition was held in two stages: On the first stage the students read an extract from a book that they had read in the summer and in the second stage they read a text new to them. The jury members consisted of a second language teacher, another teacher who knows the language very well, and a high school student for each language.

The competition started when our students started to come to the stage one by one; Russian, German, French and Spanish language students respectively. After the songs played in these languages, the voting procedure started. For Russian, Russian teacher Natalya Özgül, Art Teacher Irina Canpolat and 9/A student Sedat Onat Coşkun; for German, German Teacher Banu Özdemir, English Teacher Jack Andersen and our 9^th grade student Gülfem Cemaloğlu; for French, French teacher Tamar Mekiker and Spanish teacher Estafania Fernandes and Mehmet Alp Öztürk form 9/A;and for Spanish, Spanish teacher Roger Sanchez, French teacher Gizem Adal and Ömer Karasu from 9/A were jury members. The winners of the competition were as follows: 1. Nazenin Tara Taşören, 2. Erdem Öztabak, 3. İsa Tibet Ege Demir in Russian, 1. Neriman Dora Baykal, 2. Bahar Tok, 3. Batu Onur in French; 1. Kaan Akbulut, 2. Kayra Hıdıroğlu, 3. Ece Yüksel in German and 1. Arda Havlıoğlu, 2. Şimal Savaş, 3. Enes Ömer Tepetam in Spanish.

Our students received their awards after the results had been declared. The competition will become a tradition in the coming years.
