On Friday 17 March, we held a “Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs’ Day” program in our Conference Hall, commemorating our Çanakkale Martyrs with immense gratitude.
At the start of the program, we watched an informative film about the Çanakkale Victory. After our students attentively watched the film, our School Principal, Mehmet Durak, made a speech emphasising the meaning and importance of the day. Durak mentioned the harsh and difficult conditions of the war. The most influential part of the program was when our drama students acted out a performance about the letters that were sent to Çanakkale, but didn’t reach their intended recipients. This melancholic vivification once more emphasised the words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk that “the Çanakkale Victory is an astonishing and congratulatory story, worthy of showing the mighty spirit of the Turkish soldier. Be sure that what won the Çanakkale Battles is this mighty spirit.” The great fervency for the Çanakkale Victory was made stronger when our school choir sung requiems and folk songs.
The emotional program came to an end as our students read out letters that they had written to the Çanakkale Martyrs. As the Modafen Family, on the 102nd anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory, we mercifully and appreciatively commemorate our Martyrs, who, come what may, by sacrificing their lives, protected the value of their country and their holy morals.
