Our Manga Artists were at COMiKON

COMiKON is a festival that brings together popular cultural areas such as comics, cartoons, character design, game design, illustration, cosplay, sci-fi cinema, fantastic literature, FRP / card / box games, social media, Youtuber, new technologies. It had guests from Modafen this year as well. Our Anime Workshop members Ecrin Yaroğlu (#607) and Işık Uzunokur (#803) who are our 7th grade students took part in the event with their anime characters “Cynthia” and “Octarina” respectively.

Ecrin, who opened her first solo exhibition within the scope of Japanese Week at Boğaziçi University last year, has a strange story of her character, Cynthia.

With scars and bandages on her body, Cynthia is kidnapped for an experiment and runs away while work is being done. The experiment allows Cynthia to get stronger physically and get her wings out. Cynthia uses pink and black tears while using her powers in her adventures.

The story of Işık’s character of Ocarina, is still in its production.

COMiKON-Istanbul aims to establish a strong sector in our country and to gain international recognition, and to gain vision by gathering with world-class masters, by carrying the comic convention event, which has been held for many years in all major metropolises of the world, to Istanbul.

For this purpose, COMiKON-Istanbul, which has hosted many local and foreign institutions and artists for three years, was held in Harbiye Military Museum Cultural Site between 19-20 October 2019 this year.

We congratulate our students who have transformed their closeness to different cultures into art and wish them continued success.
