We organized a trip to Çanakkale to see the traces of the Çannakkale War, which was a turning point for a nation.
The first stop of the trip, held from 29th-30th May was Gallipoli. Kilit Bahir Castle, where 253,000 soldiers died in 1914, Seyit Onbaşı Martyr’s Memorial, The Bloody Ridge (Kanlı Sırt) and 57th Regiment Memorial whom Mustafa Kemal said: “I’m asking you to go to die; not to fight”. Then we went to Mehmetçik Park, where the first victory over the enemy was won. We saw there the “Conkbayırı Monument”, which symbolizes the 5 fingers of a man who prays to God. Our students got very excited when visiting the places where very important battles took place and seeing the remnants of these battles. The following day we went to Çanakkale center and we visited Troia, Mirror Bazaar (Aynalı Çarşı) and Nusret Mine Ship, which could destroy Queen Elizabeth’s ship.
Our students became very satisfied when seeing the traces of the Çanakkale victory of which the importance was expressed by Atatürk himself with the following saying: “Çanakkale Victory shows the spiritual power of Turkish soldiers and is worth congratulating”.
