“Having in mind the idea that fairy tales are very effective in developing the imagination, emotional life, vocabulary knowledge and, most importantly, linguistic functions of children”, our Turkish Literature Department organized the “Long Live Fairy Tales” Competition together with our 6^th grade students on March 8^th, 2016.

Our 6^th grade students, who have been working on our fairy tale project called “My Fairy Tale Heroes” since September, have not only written their own fairy tales but also associated themselves with the “fairy tales” as a literary genre.

On Tuesday 8^th March 2016, we realized one of our project activities, “Long Live Fairy Tales” Competition. The first stage of the preparation period of the competition was to determine the groups which will take part in the competition. Students were given a test and four groups, each consisting of five students, were formed. Then, our students had the opportunity of living unforgettable moments, putting their efforts in every single stage of the competition, from giving names to the groups to preparing the place where the competition would take place.

Finally, our students who participated in our competition were given presents to remind them of the meaning and importance of the day.
