A Memorial Ceremony was held in our conference hall for March 18^th “Martyrs Memorial Day” and for the 98^th Anniversary of “The Canakkale Sea Victory”. The ceremony started with a moment of silence for the Canakkale Martyrs. After The Turkish National Anthem, the Head of Turkish Department, Sema Şavkan Esen, social studies teacher, Haluk Aydın, and communication teacher, Mine Erturgut, made speeches emphasising the meaning and the importance of the day. After the speeches, our students read newspaper articles about the Canakkale War, which were released in the foreign press. Then, our music teacher, Ezgi Türdü, performed an oratorio along with our grade 10 students, Cem Yiğit Kılıç and Oğuzhan Bıçakçı, who read Mehmet Akif Ersoy’s poem for Çanakkale Martyrs, taking everyone on an imaginary journey to the year 1915, Çanakkale. The ceremony finished with a slideshow about The Canakkale War. After the ceremony, Sema Şavkan Esen, Head of Turkish Department, presented an exhibition of Çanakkale photographs and bullets.
